1P Cirriform Tarp w/ Bug Skirt

Quick specs:

Tarp wt:
400g | 14.1 oz

Packaged wt:
454g | 16.0 oz

Description

A lightweight tarp shelter with integrated bug protection

Take our 1P Cirriform Tarp, sew in perimeter bug netting, and what do you get? The 1P Cirriform w/ Bug Skirt, built for trips with low to moderate bug pressure on bare ground when you don't want to carry a separate inner.

For more on the tarp itself - geometry, materials, pitching - see the 1P Cirriform Tarp page.

What the skirt adds

  • Integrated perimeter netting - 0.6 oz no-see-um netting sewn around the base for built-in bug protection; adds ~2.4 oz (68g) over the standard Cirriform
  • No separate inner required - works as a standalone shelter for low to moderate bug pressure
  • Corner stake loops - four loops at the base to pin the skirt for a better seal in breezy conditions or on uneven ground
  • Inner-compatible - accepts the Y-zip Bug Bivy or 1P Bug Shelter inside for bug heavy trips
  • Floor-compatible - works with any groundsheet or our tub-floor (a purpose-built integrated floor is in development)

What to know before you buy

  • Breezes can lift the netting - Fortunately, the windier it is, the fewer bugs tend to be out.
  • In wet, windy conditions, water can blow off the netting - Pitching low or staking down the netting will help, and with the netting not blowing around, it'll actually help block some splashing.
  • Getting a seal on vegetation - If you're camping on lumpy ground or tall grass, expect some gaps around the perimeter.
  • There's a small gap in the netting at the end of the zipper - A known limitation of the current design.
  • Staking the four corner loops improves the seal - but it adds 4 stakes to your kit.

First batch note: The tie-out loops on this batch were added after initial construction and may be slightly harder to use than they'll be in future production runs. They work, they're just not as refined as what's coming. We're offering a 5% discount on this batch to reflect that (automatically applied).

Recycled, 20D Silpoly

The Recycled 20D Silpoly fabric uses a silicone-based coating on both sides. Silpoly absorbs less water than silnylon, reducing surprise weight, while lower sag ensures the tarp stays taut through the night.

    • Weight: 40-41 gsm | ~1.2 - oz/yd2
    • Hydrostatic Head: ~1800mm
    • Outer face coating: Silicone-based
    • Inner face coating: Silicone-based
    • PFAS Free: Yes

Seam sealing: Due to the silicone coating, the seams cannot be taped and need to be manually sealed with seam sealer. You can do this yourself or use our seam-sealing service. Seam sealer is available here, and more information can be found on our Seam Sealing page.

No-see-um Netting

The perimeter skirt is made from 0.6 oz no-see-um netting. More snag resistant and durable than some lighter options.

    • Weight: 21 gsm | 0.6 oz/yd2
    • Material: Nylon
    • Color: Black

Dimensions

We recommend a maximum pitch height of 44" (112cm) at the head and 26" (66cm) at the foot.

    • Approximate Packed size (folded):
      10" x 7.5" x 2" | 25.5cm x 19cm x 5cm
    • Approximate Packed size (full squish):
      7" Long x 4" Diam. | 18cm Long x 10cm Diam.

Hang loops

Hang loops for suspending inners are placed under each apex and near the corners. When pitched low, the loops help keep floating tub floors elevated - just run the corner lines through the loops before clipping to the tarp.

Required items (not included):

  • Front Pole: 37"–44" (94–115 cm)
  • Rear Pole: 26"–33" (66–84 cm)
  • Stakes: 6 (8 for better wind stability)

Pitching

How to pitch the Cirriform

Start by staking out the corners of the tarp to establish your base. Raise the poles at the peaks and stake them to form the shelter's shape. Adjust and tension the lines evenly for a tight, balanced pitch.
