7' x 9' Flat Tarp

The Tarp

The 7' x 9' flat tarp balances pitching flexibility with low weight. It's available in two fabric options: 20D Recycled SilPoly and 15D Membrane SilPoly.

  • 17 tie-outs and 5 hang loops give you plenty of pitching options.
  • SilPoly won't sag when temperatures drop.
  • Lower water retention than SilNylon, so you're not carrying surprise weight after a rainy night.
  • Reflective tie-outs.
  • Cord loops at each tie-out take the wear so the ties don't.
  • Pairs well with a bivy.
  • 20D option made from recycled polyester.

Tie-out layout

The tarp has 17 tie-outs across the ridge, perimeter, and panels. One panel tie-out sits centered within each side of the tarp's body; these help resist wind loading and let you open up more space underneath.

Note: two of the ridge tie-outs/hang loops sit at different distances from each end. This lets you use either end as the head-end. Some inners pitch better when the head apex clips further inward than the foot apex, or vice versa. It also gives you more flexibility for an improvised beak: when you use a tie-out as the new ridge endpoint, one distance may work better than the other for a given site.

Tie-out design

Each tie-out uses a cord loop rather than direct attachment. The loops take the wear from staking and guying, and when they eventually show signs of use, they're user replaceable. All tie-outs are reflective, making them easy to spot when you're setting up or moving around camp in the dark. Ridge tie-outs include hang loops for suspending an inner (bivy or net tent), and you can also clip to any perimeter tie-out loop.

Notes:

  • The ridgeline and panel tie-outs need to be seam sealed before use, per these instructions (or use our seam sealing service).
  • Many of the pictures show the tarp in a gray color which is no longer available.
  • Color of the gridstop reinforcements may vary from what's shown.

Made in the USA from imported fabric.
